The mission of the Frank J. D'Agostino, MD Medical Library is to provide high quality information resources and services for evidence-based decision making at Easton Hospital. Guided by the strategic initiatives of the hospital as well as professional library standards, the Library supports the patient care, educational and research needs of the hospital community.
We provide interlibrary loan (ILL) of library materials and journal articles to all hospital medical staff and employees. If an article can be obtained locally, turn around time is 3-5 days. If only large university libraries have the title, it could be at least 7-10 days. Books can also be obtained via ILL. Turn around for books and audiovisual materials is a minimum of 2 weeks depending on who owns the material. The library staff is available to complete literature searches for any hospital staff member. Literature search request forms are located in the bin next to the Director's office. You can either complete a form and leave it with a library staff member -OR- you can call us and request a literature search over the phone -OR- Click here for Literature Search Request Form. The library staff is also available to provide instruction on the various library computer databases if the user wishes to do their own searching.
Library materials may be signed out by all hospital employees and medical staff. Materials may only be signed out when library staff is available and may be borrowed for two weeks at a time. Books marked "Reference" are to remain in the library at all times. Materials may be renewed twice as long as no one is waiting for that item. Overdue notices will be sent out for all overdue library materials. Any library patron who has lengthy overdue or lost materials will be billed the price of the materials.
Our computer area consists of 9 personal computers. The computers are connected to the Hospital's network which allows access to the Internet and other network applications. The medical library has multiple databases which the hospital staff may access. There is a color scanner available for hospital employees and medical staff use. We provide, by appointment, training on the various computer programs available in the library.
